The cold hard weather of February has prompted most of our bucks to shed their antlers a bit early this year. While the breeding game seems to have come to a close for another year there is still a pecking order to maintain. Without the antlers it becomes a boxing match and once again the mature does are allowed in the game. For most of the year mature bucks will not tolerate the stress added by the aggressive does and they will move into bachelor groups away from the doe families as soon as the environment begins to green up again.
